About this treatment

WHEN IS THIS REQUIRED? You must have this vaccine at least 2 weeks before your intended date of travel. This vaccine is a drink, taken orally. It is not an injection. HOW MANY DO I NEED? The course for adults consists of two doses given seven days apart. Complete the vaccination course a minimum of one week prior to traveling. HOW OFTEN DO I NEED IT? There is no clinical efficacy data available for repeated booster doses. Yet, based on immunological data and how long the protection lasts, adults should receive a single booster dose if it's been up to 2 years since their last vaccination. If more than 2 years have passed for adults since the last vaccination, the initial vaccination series should be administered again. WHAT IS CHOLERA? Cholera is a water-borne bacterial infection caused by Vibrio cholerae, leading to severe diarrhea and dehydration. It's prevalent in regions with poor sanitation and water treatment. For travelers, vaccination is recommended when visiting areas with active cholera transmission. The vaccine, taken orally, helps prevent the disease. It's especially advised for those traveling to high-risk areas, ensuring vaccination at least one week before departure. WHICH VACCINE DO YOU USE? We routinely offer DUKORAL (Td-IPV). Dukoral is recommended for preventing illness caused by the Vibrio cholerae O1 serogroup in adults and children aged 2 years and older traveling to areas where cholera is common.
