DIPHTHERIA
Diphtheria Vaccination
About this treatment
WHEN IS THIS REQUIRED? You must have this vaccine at least 2 weeks before your intended date of travel. HOW MANY DO I NEED? If you've previously been vaccinated, a single booster dose is required. For those receiving their first vaccination, multiple doses may be necessary. HOW OFTEN DO I NEED IT? The Polio, Tetanus, and Diphtheria vaccine offers protection for a period of 10 years. To maintain immunity beyond this time, a booster shot is necessary. WHAT IS DIPTHERIA? Diphtheria is a serious bacterial infection affecting the mucous membranes of the throat and nose. Highly contagious, it can cause difficulty breathing, heart failure, paralysis, and even death. WHICH VACCINE DO YOU USE? We routinely offer REVAXIS (Td-IPV): a booster vaccine for protecting against diphtheria, tetanus, and polio. It's for adults, teenagers, and children aged six and older who have already had their initial vaccinations. CONTRAINDICATIONS: You cannot have REVAXIS if: - You have ever had an allergic or hypersensitive reaction to: Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis or poliomyelitis vaccines - You have a very high temperature (fever) - You've had neurological issues after a previous vaccination against diphtheria or tetanus - You have an allergy to neomycin, streptomycin, or polymyxin B, which might be present in trace amounts from the manufacturing process - You are pregnant
